In his letter endorsing Cone for the Hall of Fame, PGA of America CEO Joseph P. Steranka noted that “Cone’s tireless efforts to support the art of caddying and the golf industry have made him a true and loyal ambassador of the game. His passion and love for golf has enabled the Professional Caddies Association to educate and train nearly 12,000 caddies.” Cone, however, emphasized that “it’s not about Dennis or Laura Cone but the kids returning to looping and the Hall of Fame going to Golf, Illinois in Chicago area.”
The PCA is committed to preserving a 500 year-old profession that has helped sustain the game of golf. The mission is also helping save the game by providing an avenue to get more folks and kids (both boys and girls) to the golf course. Pay them to FORE caddie, and once on the course they may say “Wow this is a cool game – I’d like to learn how to play.” Dennis did as a kid. See the plan - Arnold Palmer Hosp.
